Our editorial standards
The rules we hold ourselves to, so you know exactly what kind of review you’re reading.
Last updated September 2026
These are the standards behind everything we publish. They’re not decoration — if a review can’t meet them, it doesn’t go live.
We are independent
No platform, school, or course provider pays us for a review, gets to preview one, or has any say in the score. We review companies we earn nothing from and keep honest scores on companies that pay us commissions. That independence is the only thing that makes a review worth reading.
We test before we talk
Every review is based on real, hands-on use — paid accounts, finished courses, weeks of daily use. We never review from a press release or a competitor’s summary. The full process is documented in how we test.
We show our reasoning
Scores come from the same six weighted criteria every time, and we explain the trade-offs rather than hiding behind a single number. When we recommend something, we say who it’s right for — and who should skip it.
We fix mistakes in the open
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we correct the page and note what changed and when. If you spot an error, tell us and we’ll look into it quickly.
We keep reviews current
Prices, features, and course catalogs change. We revisit reviews when they do, and we date them so you always know how fresh the information is.
Every review is signed
A real person stands behind each verdict. You’ll always be able to see who tested a product and who edited the review.
